Walt Disney struck gold in 2001 when their movie Pirates of the Caribbean, based on a Disney theme park ride, became a massive international hit and made them tons of money. Since then, they’ve made five Pirates movies and completely milked the franchise for all it’s worth. At the same time, they attempted to adapt other Disney rides into movies, with little to no success. Haunted Mansion, Tomorrowland, Country Bears. Now, 20 years after the first pirates movie - their latest attempt is Jungle Cruise! Jungle Cruise definitely raises some questions. Like why is The Rock always in the jungle? Why does this plot sound exactly like The Mummy and like Pirates of the Caribbean at the same time? What’s up with that guy’s face splitting open and snakes jumping out of it? Why does Frank speak perfect modern American English? Why did Lily intend to sacrifice thousands of lives to save a guy that explicitly said he wanted to die?
